fa·cil·i·to·ri·um (noun): a compound of facilitation – ‘the process of making something possible or easier’ – and the suffix orium – denoting a ‘place of’.
A place for coming together to make things possible or easier. That idea is at the heart of what facilitorium is all about – whether your place is out in the bush or paddock, in the town hall or community centre, or in the board or meeting room, our skill is helping your community or organisation harness the deep knowledge and skills you hold to find solutions to your local issues.
That’s because at facilitorium, I believe that the best solutions to local issues are often found within the community itself. My commitment is to foster collaboration, engagement, and inclusivity, facilitating a dynamic exchange of ideas and the strategic application of community wisdom. I work tirelessly to bridge the gap between grassroots innovation and actionable solutions, making positive change a reality. Together, we can create sustainable and impactful solutions that strengthen our local communities, making them resilient, vibrant, and better equipped to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
While I am based on the lands of the Yuin Nation, facilitorium is a roving place – meeting you at your place to make your life easier. Whether that’s through making your meetings more effective, supporting you to build partnerships with your community, demystifying strategic planning or developing fit-for-purpose governance and oversight tools.
After 25-years in the public service, starting in forestry, moving into national park planning and then governance, I established facilitorium to focus on my passion for partnering with communities and organisations to achieve their vision. At the heart of my journey from forestry to facilitation has been collaborating with local communities to navigate problems and find their own solutions. I love the process of understanding the context, thinking about ways to support the group navigate the issue, and then sitting down on the land, at the town hall, or in the board room with the group to guide them through the process and watch as they develop their own solutions.

What Happens When You Truly Listen to Your Community?
In the world of not-for-profits, governance often becomes a matter of compliance—meeting standards, ticking boxes, and ensuring your board has the right processes in place. But governance can be so much more. It can be about fostering real connection, and it all starts with listening to your community. So, what happens when you stop, step…
Embracing third places in facilitation
As I walk around my home town, I often marvel at the number of third places. Braidwood has a population of just under 2,000 people, yet between the public venues and halls, the sports grounds, the cafes and pubs, parks and the library, I can count around 20 third places off the top of my…
Golden triangle of strategy
I’ve been giving a bit of thought lately about what it takes to prepare and implement a great strategy. We all know that a strategy document itself is only one part of something bigger, but what does it take to really get traction? I’ve been mulling over what I’m thinking of as a golden triangle…
